Electronic Reserves

Electronic reserves may also be searched in the MSL Catalog like print reserves, and access through the Electronic Reserves system described below.
Logging In:
- Click the link for Course Reserves.
- Click the link "Click here to log into Course Reserves using your NetID".
- Log in with your NetID and password
If you have already logged in, clicking the " Click here to log into Course Reserves using your NetID" link will automatically send you into Course Reserves.
Main Menu will show you:
- All your added classes
- Your selected Favorites
- Your tags
Searching for Reserves by Classes:
- This is the easiest way to search.
- In the left-hand navigation menu, click on Search Classes under Student Tools.
- Use the drop-down menus to search by one or more parameters: Department, Instructor or Course.
- Click Go to search.
- Click the Add Class button to access the reserves for this class.
If you have already added the class the button will be changed to Previously Added. - You will be sent to the Main Menu were your classes are displayed.
- All previously added courses can be accessed by clicking Main Menu.
Searching for Reserves by Items:
- Is an advanced search.
- Your search must be specific and unique.
- It Will only Retrieve reserve items for one class, results for more than one class will display as "Your search produced no results."
i.e., If you instructor teaches more than one class searching by the instructors name will not yield any results even though there are reserves for that instructor in the system. - Unless you have put in full and correct information to limit the results to one class, "Your search produced no results" does not mean there are no reserves.
Accessing the Reserves
- From the Main Menu, click on the course number.
- All the reserves will be displayed for that class.
- Reserves you have not read yet will be marked as New.
- Add as Favorite:
Check the box at the left if you want to add that title to your Favorites list, also called the Hot List.
Click on the button below the list of titles to Add checked items to Hot List or Remove check items from Hot List.
Your Favorites can be accessed through the Favorites link under Student Tools and also display on the Main Menu.
- Click on the title.
- You will see the full information for the reserve item.
- Above the Reserve Item box is a link to go back to the list of reserves for this course.
- Add tags:
You may add tags to help you find similar items later.
Type a comma separated list of tags in the box provided and click the Modify tag button to add the tags.
- View the article:
Click the "View this item" link below the title.
MSL protects its reserves with a password.
A box will open up for you to type the password in.
You instructor will provide you with the correct password to use.
If your password is correct, the PDF will open in a new window or tab.
Once you have entered the password, you will be able to access all the reserves for that course.
Managing Tags
- Tags are displayed on the Main Menu
- You will see all the tags you have used and a number corresponding to how many reserves tagged with that term.
- Click the tag to see the reserves.
- Click the article name to modify the tags.
- Tags also display on the right side of the reserve information when you view reserves for a class.
Managing Favorites
- Favorites may be deleted from your Favorites list from the Main Menu
- Added or Deleted from the Favorites link under Student Tools, or the reserves display for the course.
