Study Rooms

Purpose:  To optimize the use of the group and individual study rooms while preserving the ability of Medical Sciences Library's primary clientele to reserve rooms.

MSL Rooms

(Open for use to all TAMU and TAMHSC faculty, staff, and students.)
  • 9 rooms (1 person only)
  • 7 rooms (2 - 4 people)
  • 3 rooms (2 - 8 people)
  • 1 room (4 - 10 people)
  • Studio 204 presentation practice room
    Large LCD display
    Podium
    Digital camcorder and tripod to record presentations available for check out.
    Computer with editing software in room.
         

GPS Zone Rooms

(Use limited to graduate and professional students in COALS, CVM, HLKN, and TAMHSC)
  • 5 rooms (1 person only)
  • 2 rooms (1 – 2 people)
  • 3 rooms (2 - 4 people)
  • 8 rooms (2 - 8 people)
  • 1 room (4 - 10 people)
  • 1 room (10 - 14 people)

Reservations

  • Faculty, staff, and students from COALS, CVM, HLKN, and TAMHSC can reserve rooms in MSL.
  • Graduate and professional students from COALS, CVM, HLKN, and TAMHSC can reserve rooms in the GPS Zone.
  • Reserve up to 1 week in advance.
  • Online reservations must be made 1 hour prior to reservation start time.
  • Reservations will only be held for 30 minutes.
  • Failure to check in within 30 minutes of reservation start time will result in cancellation of your reservation and all consecutive reservations.

General Policies

  • Group rooms require 2 individuals to be present when the key is checked out.
    Group rooms must be occupied by at least 2 individuals.
  • Single rooms may be ONLY be occupied by 1 individual.
  • Study room keys and cards may not leave the library.
  • If the room is empty for more than 15 minutes, the key must be returned to the Client Services Desk.
  • Tobacco products are not permitted.
  • NOTHING IS PERMITTED ON THE WALLS OR THE WINDOWS.
  • Personal electric cooling or heating devices are not allowed.
    Please report climate issues to the Client Services Desk.
  • If you find the room damaged or littered with trash, report the problem to the Client Services Desk immediately to avoid liability.

When you leave the room

  • Remove all your belongings and throw away any trash.
  • Erase the dry erase boards.
  • Return the key or card to the Client Services Desk.
  • Replacement cost for a lost key is $10.00 with a $25.00 processing fee.
